A veteran law maker from Arkansas, Linda Collin-Smith has been found in home, shot to death by the Police who are ruling the death as a homicide. The Arkansas Times reported that the body was wrapped in a blanket and had begun decomposing already, making identification difficult.

Collin-Smith was a 57 year old Republican senator who had switched from the Democratic Party in 2011 in her first term in the Arkansas House. She had recently lost the midterm elections.

She was found on Tuesday, two days after her neighbours allegedly heard gunshots being fired in the Pocahontas locality as reported to KATV.

On Twitter, Ken Yang, Senator Linda’s former press secretary, confirmed the reported murder and said that he was shocked, in tears and speechless. The GOP of Arkansas also Tweeted about the same.

Collins-Smith was known to give a passionate voice to her people and was a close member of the Republican Party and the representatives have wished her family the best during their difficult time. She had reportedly divorced her husband, retired Circuit Judge Phillip Smith in 2018.

The Democratic Party of Arkansas Tweeted that to many, Senator Smith was more than a colleague. She had been a warm person and a friend to all. The party was extremely saddened and stunned at the occurrence, asked the people to join them in praying for her family.
