President Droupadi Murmu hailed the inauguration of the new Parliament building, saying she was “deeply satisfied” that the structure was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is “the symbol of Parliament’s trust”.
The President, who was not present at the inauguration of the new Parliament building on Sunday, delivered a message, which was read out by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh inside the Lok Sabha chamber, news agency PTI reported. More than a dozen opposition parties had boycotted the event.
“I am deeply satisfied that the new Parliament is being inaugurated by the prime minister, who symbolises the trust in Parliament,” the President said in her message.
